Three Tune Tuesday - KYUSS

Hello, music lovers! 🎵

It's a Tuesday, so it's time for #threetunetuesday and a chance to share something I'm listening to. A new week and a new start, and I'm back in action but still under the impression of HiveFest. Next to that, I'm listening to stoners, a rock genre, a sound that originated in the American deserts and quickly spread all over the world.

🎵 🎧 🎵

For those of you who are not (yet) familiar with #threetunetuesday or #ttt - these are tags you need to set when you post.
It's a music initiative started by @ablaze, and with his words, the jist is as follows:

Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs that I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use #threetunetuesday tag that would be great, as that is what I use when sifting through all the entries every Wednesday. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the reward.

This genre is one of my favorites. It combines heavy rock guitars with psychedelics, which provide atmospheric textures, and acid rock, which includes energy and instrumental improvisation. The slow tempo, distorted guitar interludes, and melodic vocals that are not in the foreground form an original sound picture. And make no mistake, stoner is not derived from stones but from the cannabis subculture - stoned 😵‍💫:)

Most music experts and critics agree that the band that started it all in 1987 is Kyuss, originally from Palm Springs, California, USA. The band was active until 1995, recorded 4 albums, and broke up. They were big egos, singer John Garcia, guitarist Josh Homme, bassist Nick Oliveri, and drummer Brant Bjork. Each went his own way. They are all still active musicians and can be found in many famous bands such as Queens of the Stone Age, Screaming Trees, Fu Manchu, Eagles of Death Metal, Mondo Generator, and others.

I have chosen some songs that are typical of the genre and KYUSS as a band.

Kyuss - Gardenia

The song is from their third album, 1994's Welcome To Sky Walley, which was also their most commercial. Gardenia, with its long instrumental interludes, psychedelic effects and melancholic mood, is, I could say, a textbook example of stoner rock, but it is also one of their more popular songs. This song was written by Brant Bjork and all the others on the album by Josh Homme.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Kyuss - Green Machine

The song is from the band's second album, Blues for the Red Sun, released in 1992. Although the album was praised by music critics, it was commercially unsuccessful. It was only years later that it proved to be a major influence on the music scene, gaining a large audience and being hailed as one of the key albums of stoner rock. The song is a bit faster than their typical tempo, but it caught on with listeners.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Kyuss - Demon Cleaner

The song is from their third album, 1994's Welcome To Sky Walley. Tool has played a cover of this song several times, and it has also appeared in the games Guitar Hero: Metallica and The Crew.

That's all for today, thank you for your attention.
