Three Tune Tuesday - Early Years
Hello, music lovers! 🎵
It's a Tuesday, so it's time for #threetunetuesday and a chance to share something I'm listening to.
Today, I am listening to something old again, something from my childhood, and this has been happening to me more and more lately. I can't admit to myself that my life is entering the third stage of my life. I'm running back to my childhood years when I thought I knew everything, but I knew nothing. Still, the pleasure of discovering the world and music was at its peak. Or it's just plain autumnal melancholy with fits of sentimental nostalgia. What do I know?
Early years, not just mine but those of the world's most notorious bands whose first hits coincided with my childhood and were listened to by my parents and me with them. I've chosen a few of those tunes from the early days of rock' n'roll as my most watered-down music, which now, after all these years of listening to them, I can say are still alive, fresh, and easily up there with the modern hits.
For those not (yet) familiar with #threetunetuesday or #ttt - these are tags you need to set when you post. It's a music initiative started by @ablaze, and with his words, the jist is as follows:
Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs that I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use #threetunetuesday tag that would be great, as that is what I use when sifting through all the entries every Wednesday. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the reward.
Today, we are listening to early recordings of bands that showed great promise between 1963 and 1965 and later became stars. You've probably heard them all, but younger generations may not and will (I hope) be pleasantly surprised.
The Rolling Stones - Come On
Come On is a Chuck Berry classic, its cover paying tribute to the Rolling Stones' most significant role model. It is also the first single recorded by the original band, with Brian Jones, in 1963 and the beginning of their rise to stardom.
The Beatles - I Should Have Known Better
I Should Have Known Better was released in 1964 on the album A Hard Days Night, which was the soundtrack for the film of the same name. It was also the B-side of the single A Hard Day Night. They were already one of the most popular bands in the UK at the time. They had the distinctive Beatles sound, with melodic vocals and unique harmonies.
Pink Floyd - I'm A King Bee
I'm A King Bee was recorded in 1965 and is one of the group's earliest recordings. The song is a cover of a blues standard by Slim Harpo. Bob Klose played guitar, and Syd Barret was the lead singer. They had just changed their name from The Tea Set to Pink Floyd. It is typical blues but with the beginnings of experimentation with different sounds and instruments.
And now for a bonus. She's Not There is the debut and biggest hit single by The Zombies, recorded in 1965. It is about a lost love and has been adapted by many bands, most famously Santana.

That's all for today. Thank you for your attention.
This is my 63rd post for #threetunetuesday, which @ablaze started. I hope what I'm sharing is enjoyable for others, too, because then it makes sense.
