Street Art Ljubljana 1
Hello, Street art fans! 😎📷
Here's my contribution to CCC's Street Art Contest #321.
About 10 days ago, I drove my wife to a doctor’s appointment in Ljubljana (the capital of Slovenia). I dropped her off at the hospital, and while she was at her appointment—which lasted about two hours—I took some time to walk around the city streets and watch murals.
Parts of Ljubljana are covered with graffiti; some pieces are more interesting than others. The first thing that caught my eye on a walk was an apartment building—actually, Tabor Retirement Home—with birds depicted on its facade.

Once I’d located the building, I looked into it a bit more. The project, “This Year, They Were United by Birds That Are Disappearing,” was part of the 2022 Young Lions Festival. It focused on environmental issues and endangered bird species.

The Belgrade-based collective Škart and the residents of the retirement home created the mural together. During workshops, the residents drew the birds themselves. These drawings were later transferred to the building’s facade as the official festival mural, reminding passersby of the importance of biodiversity.
