New Tunes 20.9.2024
Hello, music lovers! 🎶
It's Friday again, and the #newtunes are back! A selection of fresh songs by well-known and lesser-known creators and debutantes will enrich our weekend!
If you have a few minutes, you can support them by listening. Maybe a new world will open up, and someone will have the opportunity to explore more deeply the sounds and melodies of the different styles and genres that are constantly coming to light. If you don't like something, skip it.

Slomosa - Red Thundra
Slomosa is a Norwegian band from Bergen that has been playing since 2020. They have released two albums, the latest, Tundra Rock, last week. A hybrid of stoner rock and grunge with perfectly produced distorted long guitar riffs and beautiful melodies that go quickly to the ears, fans of either the stoner genre or grunge will be intrigued.
Nilüfer Yanya - Just A Western
I've followed this English musician and songwriter from London for several years. I think she is underrated but is becoming increasingly well-known. This song is from her latest album, My Method Actor, released last Friday. It's a simple but layered song with intimate, introspective lyrics, which is what most of her songs are.
Sleaford Mods - Bang Someone Out
Sleaford Mods, a British duo with a minimalist approach to post-punk hip hop, released a new single, Bang Someone Out, last week. It's a stark fantasy portrayal of an increasingly claustrophobic UK, the culture war on social media, and the ever-present violence and social unrest.
David Delbridge - I Warned You
Who is David Delbridge? He is from Nevada, USA, and has released three singles in three years. I came across him by chance. In his Bandcamp description, he says he is a composer, musician, and producer, and he plays a so-called cinematic industrial style, a mix of Vangelis and Trent Reznor. Well, yes, maybe in the previous singles. This one, I warned you, is a lovely pop-rock song. He's also a bit of a music educator (philosopher?); he has a website Bandomizer where he gives free tips to songwriters and musicians, including the ability to choose a name for a band via the Random Band Name Generator. 😎
clipping. - Run It
Clipping. is an experimental hip-hop trio from Los Angeles, USA. It combines the musical experience of MC Daveed Diggs and producers William Hutson and Jonathan Snipes. A new single recorded for SubPop Records, Run It, was released last week. It's a steady track with a frenetic collage of overlapping rhythms, house elements, and Diggs rhymes that roll off the tongue.
Pisse - Glotzkowsky
Pisse is a German band that has been active since 2012. It has released several EPs and two full-length albums. Their latest EP, Dubai, was released two weeks ago. It's straightforward punk rock with elements of synths, sharp bass, rhythmic drums, and penetrating vocals. With good production, it has taken synth-punk to the next level. I think they are underrated, so I've featured them here.
Another Dancer - I Try To Be Another Dancer
Another Dancer is a Belgian band with the debut album, I Try To Be Another Dancer. They got my attention with the very first song, which has the same name as the album. There's a lot to it. It sounds very fresh and modern, but at the same time, it's deeply rooted in 90s indie synth-pop and rock in a DIY production manner, which means it gravitates somewhere between forgotten hits and broken sound experiments. It's a very diverse album, so I recommend the whole thing.
Laíz and The New Love Experience - Carcará
Laiz is a 24-year-old transdisciplinary artist from Brazil who makes music in Berlin. Her debut album, Ela Partiu, caught the attention of the Berlin jazz scene with its unique fusion of Latin groove, free jazz, Afrobeat, and Brazilian hip-hop. I recommend the whole album! A new Diva is on the horizon, maybe?
🎶That's all for today, and enjoy your weekend with new songs!
