New Tunes 🎵 🎸 10.7.2026 🎤🎺

Hello, music lovers! 🎶

Yeah, it's Friday and time for #newtunes!

U2, Hola Ghost, Mary in the Junkyard, Martha Irma x NEEL, The Mars Volta, Dirty Turkeys, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Canned Heat.

[This is a repeat of the text from two weeks ago, which is still accurate] I'm on the island again, my 4G router works perfectly, and I'm listening to the fresh music (and drinking cold beer). What more could you wish for? Well, since we're on the subject of wishes, Hive could resolve issues and go up :)

Almost every week, I discover new songs by the top artists on the charts, hidden treasures and unknown voices—all of which are vying for a moment of your time. Could one of them become the next global hit? The only way to know is to dive in and listen for yourself :)

Eight fresh songs for curious music lovers!
If something catches your ear — dig deeper to find more detailed info. If it’s not your thing, just skip it.

U2 - Street Of Dreams

I’ll start with the rock dinosaurs—not because I’m a huge fan of theirs, but because I enjoyed listening to their early albums, while their later ones didn’t really do it for me.

The song “Street Of Dreams” is the first single from their new studio album—their first in nine years—which doesn’t yet have a title but is set for release at the end of the year. The song is typical of U2, both in sound and content; it reminds me a bit of “Where the Streets Have No Name.”

🎵 🎧 🎵

HOLA GHOST - The End of the Road

Hola Ghost is a Danish band from Copenhagen. They’ve been playing since 2007 and have released several EPs and two studio albums. For me, they’re a new discovery. They play an interesting mix that I’d describe as mariachi death surf, psychobilly, and punk with Mexican, punk, and spaghetti western influences. The song “The End of the Road” is the new single from their upcoming, as-yet-untitled album; the video was released about 8 days ago.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Mary in the Junkyard - Blood

Mary in the Junkyard is an English trio from London that has been active since 2022. They’re a new name to me. They play atmospheric indie/art rock with elements of folk, post-rock, emo, and classical music—dreamy and melancholic, yet intense and emotional. A few days ago, they released their first studio album, Role Model Hermit. They’re one of the most promising young British bands right now—Rolling Stone, NME, and others are hailing them as “one of the most fascinating indie debut albums of 2026.”

The song “Blood” is a single from their debut album, recorded live in the studio, which gives it an even more organic and hypnotic sound. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3LXxnfgx9Q

🎵 🎧 🎵

Martha Irma x NEEL - Toys

Martha Irma is a very young Danish singer and songwriter, and NEEL is a Danish-Indian producer. Their style is fresh and emotional, blending pop, folk, and R&B. This is actually their first official performance—a live session recording from the intimate “Tiny House Sessions” series, where young talents perform short, acoustic sets in a wooden cabin. The sound is more acoustic and minimal—guitar, vocals, and gentle production—emphasizing emotional depth.

The YouTube algorithm suggested it to me, and maybe we’re witnessing a rise; I think she really deserves success.

🎵 🎧 🎵

The Mars Volta - Cue The Sun & Alba Del Orate

The Mars Volta is an American band from El Paso, formed in 2001. They play a mix of progressive rock, psychedelia, Latin American rhythms, punk, jazz, and avant-garde—often conceptual, chaotic, and very long songs. To date, they have released nine studio albums. The songs “Cue The Sun” and “Alba Del Orate” are from their new live album, “Lucro Sucio; Unfinished Business,” which was released on July 1 of this year.

Here, I'll share another live video from 2002 that I filmed myself at our local club. This shows what The Mars Volta looked like at the start of their career. The song is "Cut That City." :)

🎵 🎧 🎵

The Dirty Turkeys - Under Your Spell

The Dirty Turkeys are an American band from Boulder. They’re a new band to me. They’ve been playing since 2022, performing a mix of psychedelic rock, outlaw country, garage punk, surf rock, and psychobilly. They’re a new band to me. They describe their sound as “Acid Cowpunk.” The song “Under Your Spell” is a new single released about a week ago—it’s psychedelic and groovy, with distinctive vocals.

🎵 🎧 🎵

King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard - Level 5

King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard is one of my favorite bands; I’ve been following them since their inception in 2010. They’re incredibly prolific—they’ve released 27 official studio albums, plus a multitude of live recordings from concerts—and they put out 2–5 albums a year. Their style has evolved from garage rock, psych rock, microtonal music, thrash metal, jazz fusion, folk, synthwave, and now electronic/techno music.

The song “Level 5” is the new single from their upcoming album Alien Metal—a trippy, rhythmic track with mechanical melodies, distorted vocals, and a strong dance beat. It’s a very different King Gizzard in their new rave phase, but still original.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Canned Heat - East/West Boogie

Canned Heat is an American blues rock and boogie legend from Los Angeles, California. They formed in 1965 and were one of the key bands of the late 1960s

The song “East/West Boogie” isn’t exactly new (it’s from the April 2024 album Finyl Vinyl), but I just heard it for the first time recently and think it’s worth sharing. It’s classic blues boogie that reminds me of their early hits. These old-timers are still going strong!
