New Tunes 1.11.2024
Hello, music lovers! 🎶
How did you celebrate Halloween? I hope it involves a lot of music. If the music was good, then the party was good too. And if you need more, here's our latest selection of #newtunes, featuring fresh sounds by well-known and lesser-known artists. Their themes and sounds resonate with the current times.
As usual, if you don't like something, skip it. But if you want to know more after listening to this, I'll gladly share it with you.

Myles Kennedy - Saving Face
Myles Kennedy is an American artist perhaps better known for his work in Alter Bridge and with Slash, the guitarist of Guns'n'Roses. He recently released his third solo album, 'The Art Of Letting Go.' Comparing it to his previous two albums, he returns to his roots, to rock based on full-blooded guitar riffs and infectious, sing-songy choruses.
Fantastic Negrito - Devil In My Pocket
Fantastic Negrito, or Xavier Amin Dphrepaulezz, from Oakland, California, the eighth of 15 from a family of Somali immigrants, is a new name to me. From what I've heard from him, you have to live the blues to perform it well. His latest album, 'Son Of A Broken Man,' released in September this year, confirms that. It takes the listener on an eclectic primal journey into the blues, gospel, soul, funk, and rock. Highly recommended!
Lalalar - Yarın Yokmuş Gibi
Istanbul synth-punk psychedelics Lalalar have released a new single, Yarın Yokmuş Gibi, and announced their European tour. Their last album was released in September last year, but it's very much in the style of modern, perhaps polished synth-punk, with a distinctive Turkish twist.
Famous: What Are You Doing The Rest Of Your Life
Famous is a London band from the so-called Windmill scene, including black midi, Jockstrap, Black Country, and others. They have a little less to listen to than the above. Two EPs, and, after eight years, their debut album 'Party Album' two weeks ago. The only permanent band member is writer and frontman Jack Merrett. He experiments with vocals to deal with his inner issues and therapy sessions and, with distorted guitars, takes on various roles, from melodically lead instruments to purely noirish spots.
Chat Pile - Masc
Chat Pile is an American rock band from Oklahoma City that plays noise rock. In fact, after their second album, Cool World, released two weeks ago, they could be put in the sludge-metal subgenre. From their first album, God's Country, which I mentioned a while ago in #newtunes, where they discuss the depressing rural USA, they have jumped even higher to the world's contempt. The soundscape is fitting, with intense guitars moving from hardcore riffs to death metal and the vocals and lyrics stylistically moving with them. It's not exactly music for tender souls, but I recommend it :)
Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp - Breath
Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp, or OTPMD, is a Swiss avant-garde music collective from Geneva. It's known for its eclectic mix of folk, krautrock, post-punk, avant-garde Marcel Duchamp, and African rhythms and for the experimental soundscapes it creates during performances. The song "Breathe" is from Ventre Unique, their sixth album, which was released today.
The Madrigal Project - A Question of Wait and Matter
The Madrigal Project is the project of Kevin Dodson, former frontman of the iconic progressive rock band Madrigal. Dodson aims to breathe new life into the progressive rock genre with ambitious songwriting, high production values, and an all-star cast of musicians. The debut album, '11th Hour,' features an impressive list of guests, each bringing their unique talents to the project. A Question of Wait and Matter features special guest appearances from Billy Sherwood (Yes) on bass and Adam Holzman (Miles Davis, Steven Wilson) on keyboards.
India Arkin - Senseless
India Arkin is a young musician from Newcastle, UK, who started playing music a few years ago. She has released one album so far, Home Truths, in 2022. Now, she is going the indie route, and the single Senseless, released at the end of September, is her first release this year. It's rock music with vocals by Portishead or Propellerheads (well, I'm exaggerating; it's not that far away, but it's near). She's a new name for me; I'll be following her.
🎶That's all for today, and enjoy your weekend with new songs!
