Beer Tasting 🍺Green Gold Forbidden Fruit 🍻 Erdinger Weißbier
Hello, beer lovers! 🍻
How are you doing? Fall and the gloom are here; winter is coming, but we can brighten our days with summer memories and the fun of holidays like Halloween. Yeah, in the fall you’ve got to enjoy summer beers, especially for #beersaturday—I can’t remember which one anymore.
I have two cans in front of me, both filled with wheat beers—one German and one Slovenian. I'm already looking forward to sharing my experience of drinking these two wheat fruit beers with you.
First, the one with less alcohol
Green Gold Forbidden Fruit
Brewed by Green Gold Brewing, Šempeter, Slovenia. Can, 0.5 L, alcohol 5.1% ABV, IBU 30. Mango fruited wheat ale.

Our Forbidden Fruit is for everyone who knows how to enjoy warm spring, summer, and autumn evenings — whether in the company of friends, a loved one, or simply yourself. This summer Ale is made for those who appreciate lighter, easy-drinking beers. In our “orange” brew, hops Styrian Wolf, Aurora, and Mosaic blend perfectly, while the sweetest tropical fruit — mango — adds its distinctive touch.
🍺 I’m quite familiar with the Green Gold Brewery. I’ve been tasting their beers for a few years; it’s one of Slovenia's higher-quality breweries.
The beer is cloudy, yellow-gold, with an average head. It has a tropical fruit aroma. On the palate, it goes down smoothly, with hop bitterness giving way to mango and grapefruit notes. The aromas and flavors linger on the palate, making a lasting impression.
A very drinkable, refreshing, and flavorful beer! It’s a well-balanced beer where the mango flavor doesn’t taste artificial or overly sweet. What surprised me most, though, was that I never realized it was a wheat beer. You can find it locally at Hofer stores for €2.60, and I think I'll end up with a few more bottles in my fridge.

Erdinger Weißbier
Brewed by Erdinger Weissbräu, Erding, Bayern, Germany. Can, 0.5 L, alcohol 5.3% ABV, IBU 13. Wheat Beer - Hefeweizen.
What do the Master Brewers say?

Last week I tasted Erdinger Helles, but their main beer is a wheat beer, so that’s what’s on the table now.
The beer is a cloudy yellow; the head is average and creamy, and it fades quickly. It has a malt and yeast aroma. It goes down smoothly; on the palate, I detect slight malt sweetness, along with notes of bread, banana, and cloves. The aftertaste has a minimal bitterness that fades after a while.
A refreshing and delicious beer! Tradition and adherence to the Bavarian Beer Purity Law. A classic Bavarian wheat beer, well-balanced in every way, perfect for everyday drinking. Great for getting started in the world of wheat beers, and widely available—you can find it in almost all local stores here, like Spar, Mercator, and Tuš. Price around €2.0.
