Beer tasting Cobra World Beer, Miller Genuine Draft, and Petrus Roodbruin

Hello, beer lovers! ๐Ÿป

For today's #beertasting, 375 in a row, fate has sent me somewhere else than I planned. I wanted to go to Aachen, but I ended up on the island of Pag. But because we are alive, we adapt, and that's why we survive. So now I'm in my caravan and have some beers I've taken with me for a quick look.

I hope they are cool enough to taste. At 35 degrees Celsius, you never know how the fridge will cool them. I bought two cans, one supposed to be world beer, or so it says, bought in London, one American, and one small Belgian bottle. I have the whole afternoon ahead of me.

๐Ÿป ๐Ÿ˜Ž ๐Ÿป

Cobra World Beer

Brewed by Cobra Beer (Molson Coors), Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. Can, 0,5 l, alcohol 4.5% ABV, IBU 17. It's an American Pale Lager-style beer with a grainy flavor and low bitterness.

What do the master brewers say?

Brewed to an authentic Indian recipe with a modern twist for an extra smooth taste. . Lord Karan Bilimoria founded Cobra Beer in 1989 to create a drink that had the smoothness of an ale and the refreshment of a lager. The Cobra range is brewed with a complex recipe and lower carbonation to perfectly accompany all food. Cobra is made from a complex recipe of seven ingredients and then expertly brewed with fewer bubbles to give it a sophisticated taste. Spicy pure hop oil is used to create unique aromas and flavours, whilst lower carbonation delivers a smooth flavour. It is the perfect companion for any dish, from anywhere in the world. It's also a renowned beer award-winner because in its own unique way Cobra combines the smoothness of ale with the refreshment of lager.

๐Ÿบ

When I looked up what this Cobra beer is, I found that it has won 146 gold & grand gold medals for quality at Monde Selection since 2001. Hm...

The beer is yellow, with an average head that disappears quickly. It has no smell. It goes down the throat smoothly and is very smooth in the mouth. I can taste a little bit of rice malt and a little bit of malt bitterness, but that's all. Nothing in the aftertaste.

What do I know? They say it's made to be drunk with food. I could accept that. But it's nothing special; it's no different from the industrial beers corporations distribute. In short, it makes a lot of noise for nothing. But still, I wonder how they could have won so many awards.

๐Ÿป ๐Ÿ˜Ž ๐Ÿป

Miller Genuine Draft (MGD)

Brewed by Miller Brewing Company (Molson Coors USA), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. Can, 0,5 l, alcohol 4.7% ABV, IBU 12. It's the same as previous, American Pale Lager. It's purely coincidental. When I was packing for the sea I took two cans and one bottle without looking.

What do the master brewers say?

Miller Genuine Draft debuted in 1985 with fresh, smooth flavor that's a result of being cold-filtered four times. It representing a true innovation in American brewing, MGD's patented cold-filtered process fashions the smooth drinkability of draft beer available in bottles and cans.

๐Ÿบ

That's interesting. What's even more interesting is that I've never seen such a bad rating for this beer on Ratebeer and Untappd.

Precisely the same as the previous one. Hints of malt with no bitterness and almost nothing else. What innovation this is, as they say, I do not know. Maybe in the robotization of production? I have nothing against it, except that I would not brag about it. But who am I? Both are typical, ordinary, industrial beers without taste or soul. They are not available here, so I am not too bothered. But, whatever I write, remember: any chilled beer is fine in summer - more than any other drink.

๐Ÿป ๐Ÿ˜Ž ๐Ÿป

Petrus Roodbruin

Brewed by De Brabandere, Harelbeke, West Flanders, Belgium. Bottle, 0,33 l, alcohol 5.5% ABV, IBU 17. It's a Sour Flemish Ale or Flanders Red style beer, reddish-brown colored, sour, fruity, Belgian-style ale with interesting supportive malt flavors and fruit complexity.

What do the master brewers say?

Petrus Roodbruin, previously called Oud Bruin, is a blend of 33% Petrus Aged Pale, pure foeder beer that has aged for 2 years in oak foeders, and 67% young brown beer. In this blend, the young dark beer contributes the reddish-brown color and the Aged Pale contributes the slightly sour flavor. It's a typically Flemish red-brown ale as the tradition dictates.

๐Ÿบ

I have another sour beer in my pocket. I had a six-pack of various Petrus beers, and this is the third I have tasted.

It's the evening, the beer looks dark red in color, and the foam is solid and creamy. The first sip goes down my throat smoothly, I taste sour cherries, apples, the sweetness of malt, no bitterness. In the aftertaste, everything disappears quickly.

A classic sour beer with cherry flavours. I'm not really a fan of such sour flavours, but one of these is quite drinkable for a change. I don't have more so I can't say that this is usual for me. Not available here except in Pettrus Beer Box in Lidl stores.

๐Ÿป ๐Ÿ˜Ž ๐Ÿป

Well, that's all for today. We're also listening to music, which, of course, I choose. Nothing from #newtunes because I didn't write them :) I'm listening to something relaxing....

I'm not big on sour beers but I would choose the letrus out if those three. I'm familiar with Miller - typical "factory beer" as you say. I try to avoid those types. The only thing they are good for is a hangover ๐Ÿ˜‚

I love the description of the Cobra Beer even though it is nothing special or different from the regular ones we have๐Ÿ˜…
