Beer Tasting đș Augustiner Lagerbier Hell đ» Trappistes Rochefort 10
Hello, beer lovers! đ»
Summer is really coming to an end. Itâs sunny during the day, 25°C, but in the morning and evening, temperatures drop below 10°C. But thatâs normalânature changes with the seasons, and weâre getting older...

I have two bottles in front of me, one German and one Belgian, completely different; Iâll happily empty them and share the beer experience with you!
First, the one with less alcohol.
Augustiner Lagerbier Hell

Brewed by Augustiner-BrÀu, Munich, Bayern, Germany. Bottle, 0.5 L, alcohol 5.2% ABV, IBU 12. Lager, Helles style.
What do the Master Brewers say?
A particularly mild, crisp, long-aged, and above all, refreshing beer. Unique in flavor, a delight for every beer connoisseur. In the foreground, the pure, cellar-fresh odor note can be detected. In addition, the slightly floral hop tones with background malt aroma are perceptible. Due to the lean, balanced body, the pleasantly tangy taste experience comes out excellently. In the background, you can taste the velvety soft hop bitterness.
The Augustiner-BrÀu Brewery is one of Munich's oldest; it is said to have been founded by Augustinian monks in 1328. It is brewed in accordance with the Munich Purity Law of 1487. Traditional.

The beer is light and clear yellow, with an average head. It has no aroma. It goes down smoothly; on the palate, I detect slight sweetness, fresh bread, and delicate, grassy hop bitterness. A slight hop bitterness lingers in the aftertaste.

A very drinkable and refreshing beer! Itâs not harsh, not as sweet as some industrial lagers, and not a âcraftâ beer with strong aromas. Itâs easy to drink, very well-balanced, and perfect for a long evening at the pub. Iâd open another bottle right away if I had oneâunfortunately, I donât :( Itâs not available locally here; I bought it at the Plodine store in Croatia for âŹ2.21.

Letâs move on to Belgium for a completely different level of beer!
Trappistes Rochefort 10

Brewed by Abbaye Notre-Dame de Saint-Rémy, Rochefort, Région Wallonne, Belgium. Bottle, 0.33 L, alcohol 11.3% ABV, IBU 27. Belgian Quadrupel style.
What do the Master Brewers say?
Dominant impressions of latte coffee with powerful chocolate aromas in the nose. The alcohol esters are enveloped with hints of autumn wood, citrus zest (orange, lemon) and freshly baked biscuits. The initial taste is sweetly sinful. Beer and chocolate trapped into one single glass, a liquid milky draught with a backbone of bitter malt. The alcohol warms the throat and, in the finish, you will pick up traces of cloves, citrus, orange and mocha.
The heaviest of the Rochefort beers, the 10 is a quadrupel style beer and can be recognized by its blue label.

The beer is a dark brown, cloudy chestnut color. It has a generous, creamy, long-lasting head. The aroma is of dried plums and raisins. It goes down quite smoothly (though with over 11% ABV, I wouldnât have expected that); on the palate, I detect a true richness of flavors, ranging from dried plums, caramel, and dark chocolate to hints of sherryâall slightly sweet, but not too much. A slight bitterness of dark chocolate lingers in the finish.

A delicious beer! This isnât your average, everyday beer. Itâs very strongâa quadrupelâwith a high alcohol content. Itâs more like a dessert beer, with complex flavors, and itâs not for everyone. Itâs kind of like a liqueur. One small bottle is plenty. If you like this type of beer, itâs a must-try; if you donât, it wonât change your mind either. I like itânot as a thirst-quencher, but as an example of just how far beer brewing can go. By the way, you can age it. You buy a bottle, put it somewhere dark, and forget about it for a couple of years. Then you open it. Apparently, itâs completely different. I read that someone aged it for seven years. I found it at the E.Leclerc store in Ljubljana for âŹ4.50. Maybe Iâll buy another one and forget about it for a couple of years :)
And what am I listening to when writing this and tasting beer? I didn't post my Friday #newtunes, but I'm listening to a lot of music! YT comment: Somehow 80+ years old guys make better music than kids nowadays...
