ThreeTuneTuesday - Duets
Hello music lovers! π΅
It's Tuesday, time for #threetunetuesday, and a chance for me to share something I'm listening to. Today I'm just going to follow up on my previous post, or rather, I'm going to introduce one of my favorite singers, who I mentioned in my previous post, in collaboration with other musicians.
For those of you who are not (yet) familiar with #threetunetuesday or #ttt - these are tags you need to set when you post.
It's a music initiative started by @ablaze, and with his words, the jist is as follows:
Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs which I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use #threetunetuesday tag that would be great, as that is what I use when sifting through all the entries every Wednesday. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the prize.
Back to the topic. Well, P.J.Harvey or Polly Jean Harvey, a British artist, multi-instrumentalist, poet, singer and composer (more details about her here) collaborates intensively with other musicians and today I'm going to present three songs that she sings in a duet and that I have on my permanent playlist. So, when I don't know what to listen to anymore (yeah, it happens to me too π), I always come back to somewhere where I know that I'm going to be able to enjoy for a couple of minutes some of the sounds, the melodies, and the lyrics.
P.J.Harvey and Thom Yorke - This Mess We're In
Thom Yorke is the frontman of Radiohead, a top musician, and lately, he's been doing a lot of shows with the Smile, which for me is one of the best concert attractions of the last couple of years. The song This Mess We're In is from the 2000 album Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea. P.J. Harvey wrote the lyrics and invited Thom Yorke to join in. The album won the 2021 Mercury Prize for Best UK Album.
Josh Stone and P.J.Harvey - I Wanna Make It Wit Chu
Josh Stone, frontman of the notorious Queens Of The Stone Age invited her to join his Desert Sessions project, which featured many musicians, including Bjork, Monster Magnet, Kyus, etc. Between 2001 and 2003, they released three albums of recordings and a number of videos. This song 'I Wanna Make It wit Chu' is from the 2003 album Volume 9: I See You Hearin' Me.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Henry Lee ft. P.J. Harvey
This ballad is from Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds ninth album, Murder Ballads, from 1996. He invited P.J. Harvey, Kylie Minogue and Shane McGowan of The Pogues to join him. Henry Lee is based on the traditional Scottish folk song 'Young Hunting', arranged by Nick Cave. This song is not as well known as Kylie Minogue's hit from the same album 'Where The Wild Roses Grow'. But it's still great, even better for me.
This is my 25th post for #threetunetuesday, which was started by @ablaze. I hope what I'm sharing is interesting for others too, because then it makes sense.
