Preparing Firewood
I don't know about you, but for me, the time I have in my life is passing very quickly. Only now I have the opportunity to write something I was working on about a month ago but had to stop because of other commitments, and next week I'll continue.
Preparing firewood for winter. It may sound and read strange, but now that it's summer it's the right time to do it. For my mother, who has wood central heating in the house, I have started preparing firewood. I have electric panels for heating in my flat and my winter heating was quite expensive. Well, that's another subject...
My friend, who is a forester, cut down and cut up the old trees in our old orchard (quite tall and thick, I didn't dare to do it myself) and I spent a week in May, after work, driving them in my pick-up truck to the orchard where my mother has her woodshed.
It's not far from the old orchard to the woodshed, but it still has to be loaded by hand, transported, and then unloaded. It was quite hot in May, (almost like now, when every day there is a heat wave and a thunderstorm in the afternoon, but no rain, just a heat wave), so it was quite tiring, huh...
And then all that firewood has to be chopped to the right size to go into the central heating stove. It's lucky we have a good log splitter so we don't have to do it by hand because I'd probably go crazy and hire someone to do it...
I spent two afternoons on it, then had to stop because I had (and still have) other commitments for the rest of the week. Here's what it looks like.
In fact, after two weeks away, I still have to finish this ... not to mention mowing the grass and working in the field ... this time is really flying by ...
Thanks for your attention... I'm in a hurry :)
